The Edwin Tiffin School is expanding educational opportunities by exercising the use of volunteer tutors and educational videos.  Because of lengthy waiting lists and only three academic teachers (one teacher on the north compound and two teachers on the south compound) as well as limited classroom space, the school is actively pursuing adding an area to the Library for certified tutors to assist inmates wishing to earn a GED.  The RCI education department is also anticipating expanding to all housing units.  Once space in each unit has been established, materials will be disbursed and tutors will be available to assist any inmate wishing to further his education. Additional tutor training classes will be held in order to accommodate the increased amount of unit tutors.  The Edwin Tiffin School also provides a wide range of Pre-GED/GED and other educational videos via the inmate teleprompt to enhance and encourage active learning in each cell/TV room.

The Edwin Tiffin School also offers testing on a volunteer basis each quarter to all inmates wishing to participate.  They are invited to take the CASAS test first, then, if he meets the qualifications he will be given the Pre-GED test.
