The Handyman’s workshop program is an extension of the Plumbing Apprenticeship program which provides offenders, who are not apprenticeship students, the opportunity to learn general home maintenance skills.  Class room instruction and hands-on experience are the core components of the program.  Participants meet weekly for three hours learning sink, toilet, hot water tank, water lines and drains installation, furnace repair, sheet metal duct work, roofing, siding and window installation.

Guest speakers from local businesses and organizations are invited to address real life experiences and provide relevant information that will help offenders transition into the community and the local work force.  Representatives from Plumbers and Pipe fitters Union, Local 396 spoke to the Handyman’s Workshop providing pertinent information about their apprenticeship application process, fees, requirements, and program curriculum.
