NORTH COAST CORRECTIONAL TREATMENT FACILITY OFFICIALLY OPENS

(Columbus)—Reginald A. Wilkinson, Director of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (DRC), today announced the opening of the North Coast Correctional Treatment Facility (NCCTF). Located adjacent to Grafton Correctional Institution in Lorain County, NCCTF is the first privately-operated state prison in Ohio. The prison will be managed by Civigenics, which is headquartered in Massachusetts.

"I look forward to a successful partnership with CiviGenics Warden Larry Seidner and his staff, as we work to help rehabilitate many of Ohio’s substance abusing offenders. Through treatment and work programs, a reduction in the number of these offenders is expected," said Director Wilkinson.

NCCTF is scheduled to receive 15 inmates today. Beginning next week, they will receive a regular flow of inmates until maximum capacity is reached. NCCTF is a 552-bed facility.
