(Columbus) --- Reginald A. Wilkinson, Director of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (DRC) today announced the appointment of Khelleh Y. Konteh as warden for the new Toledo Correctional Institution (ToCI).
Konteh, 50, is currently warden at Trumbull Correctional Institution, a close security facility in Leavittsburg. Warden Konteh began his career with DRC in 1984 as the regional sales manager for Ohio Penal industries. He also served as a deputy warden and administrative assistant to the South Regional Director of Prisons. Konteh holds a Master Degree in Administration from Central Michigan University.
ToCI is designed to house 1000 close security male offenders in the main compound and 125 minimum-security inmates in the correctional camp. The camp will open in the spring of 2000 and the main compound in late summer of 2000. The prison will employ approximately 400 staff when completely operational.
Julius Wilson, 47, was appointed warden at Trumbull Correctional Institution replacing Konteh. Wilson began his career in 1989 as a case manager at the Marion Correctional Institution. He has served as a deputy warden at Grafton Correctional Institution and Lorain Correctional Institution. Wilson received his Juris Doctorate from Lewis & Clark College, Northwestern School of Law in 1982.
"Both of these men are corrections professionals who have measured up to the job assignments they have been given," said Director Wilkinson. "I am confident that they will both carry out their job assignments in committed manner."
