WARDEN APPOINTMENTS ANNOUNCED

(Columbus) --- Reginald A. Wilkinson, Director of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (DRC), today announced the appointment of two new wardens and the re-assignment of a third warden. "I am pleased and confident that these men will be dedicated and committed to their new assignments," said Wilkinson. "They are corrections professionals who have measured up to any challenge which they have been given."

Chris Yanai, Ph.D., 40, will assume the responsibilities as warden at the Oakwood Correctional Facility (OCF) in Lima. Yanai holds a doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from Clayton University and has been with the Department since 1983. He began his career as a case manager at the Lima Correctional Institution. Dr. Yanai brings a wealth of experience to his new position. He has participated in extensive training regarding mental healthcare, mental illness and psychological trauma. His expertise in these areas will serve him well at the prison. OCF, a close-security facility, houses male and female inmates who are in need of intensive psychiatric care. Dr. Yanai is replacing Kay Northrup who was appointed to senior staff as Deputy Director of the Office of Correctional Health Care.

Michael Randle, 32, has been tapped to become the warden of the Chillicothe Correctional Institution, a medium-security facility in Chillicothe. He was most recently the Deputy Warden of Administration for the Ross Correctional Institution, where he served in that position for the past two years. Randle has a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from the Ohio State University. He started his career as a unit manager at the Ohio Reformatory for Women located in Marysville in 1990. The warden position became available when Gary Mohr was appointed Deputy Director of Administration at central office.

Don DeWitt, 51, has been the warden at the Montgomery Education and Pre-Release Center in Dayton since 1997. His new assignment will be the medium/close-security Ross Correctional Institution (RCI) in Chillicothe. DeWitt has been a DRC employee since 1991. He has served as a teacher, school administrator and principal working with prisoners through the Ohio Central School System. DeWitt holds a Masters in Education Administration from Xavier University. DeWitt moves to RCI to replace Terry Collins who was appointed Regional Director for the South Region in the Office of Prisons.
