Prisons Honor Fallen Comrades

(Columbus) The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (DRC) will host its annual Memorial Service on Friday, May 8, 1998 at 10:30 a.m. The ceremony, which pays tribute to employees who have been killed in the line of duty, is held at the Department’s Memorial Park in Orient, Ohio.

The ceremony features Honor and Color Guards from many of Ohio’s 30 correctional institutions. The Honor and Color Guards will Advance the Colors; discharge a 21-gun Salute and sound "Taps" for the Department’s fallen heroes.

A Roll Call of Employees Killed in the Line of Duty will be read as members of the Guard place a red rose at the memorial in memory of each of the15 employees who made the ultimate sacrifice in the performance of their duties. A Broken-Spoke flower wreath is placed at the Memorial signifying staff lost to violence. Those employees are:
