(Columbus)----The mission of the International Association of Reentry (IAR) is to foster victim and community safety through correctional reform and prison population management, cost containment, professional development, and the successful reintegration of offenders.
“The goal of reentry is to prepare offenders for release back to the community as productive members of society,” said Reginald A. Wilkinson, Director of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (DRC) and President of IAR. “To accomplish this mission will require active collaboration with correctional and justice professionals, the victim community, formerly incarcerated persons, higher education, public policymakers, inter-faith and family advocates, and community members.”
The IAR plans to provide energetic advocacy targeting the many areas encompassed by reentry through its annual conference, the issuing of action-oriented reports, position papers, legislative testimony and other methods.
The IAR will host its inaugural summit in Columbus, Ohio March 13-16, 2005. The summit will be hosted by the Hilton Columbus at the Easton Town Center.
