SOUTHERN OHIO CORRECTIONAL FACILITY LOCKED DOWN

(Lucasville) -- Effective at 4:30 a.m. today, the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility (SOCF) was placed in lockdown status in order to conduct a search of the entire institution. The Critical Incident Management/Incident Command System has been implemented and will be utilized to manage the effective and orderly operation of the search.

There has been no major incident which prompted the lockdown status and search. An investigation is ongoing both internally and in conjunction with the Ohio State Patrol.

"We hope to quickly and effectively complete the search and return to routine activity in a few days. Our #l priority is to ensure institution security and safety of all staff and inmates," states Warden Terry J. Collins.
