The barbering program at NCCI has maintained a 100% passage rate since the barber program opened in 1996.  Instructors Tami Tharp and Kathleen Thomas maintain a high level of expectation and professionalism from the barber students. The students are expected to complete a business plan for opening a new barber shop which includes cost, location, layout, goals, and name of their new barber shop.  The students present their business plans to a panel of staff who provide feedback on their ideas.

This part of the curriculum provides the students with a sense of entrepreneurship to aid their successful re-entry in to society. Tami Tharp and Kathleen Thomas spend the whole week prior to the Barber Board Exam running the students through their paces to ensure they are at peak performance.  Kathleen and Tami continue to find new and innovative ways to challenge their students to succeed.
