The Hope Memorial School operates on the grounds of the Marion Correctional Institution (MCI), which houses an average of 2,200 minimum, medium and close security inmates. The MCI Hope Memorial School is proud to commit to the following educational programs:
The Hope Memorial School welding class works on constructing gates and fence barriers for the Union County independent Fair. Several dozen of these sections were constructed and welded by the Career-Technical (vocational) students and also by the Youthful Offender Apprenticeship students for the welder assistance/pipe fitter apprentices. This is just one of the many community service projects that this program has completed for MCI community service.
Additional Hope Memorial School Career-Technical programs offered at MCI include: Automotive Technology, Cabinet Making, Administrative Office Technology, and Production Agriculture. The Production Agriculture program is held at the MCI Camp. Offenders from the MCI Camp may also attend vocational programs found within the main stockade if they are eligible.
Hope Memorial School academic programs at MCI include ABE/Literacy, Pre-GED and GED classes. MCI also offers advanced job training (AJT). The AJT classes are coordinated with the Marion Technical College, so offenders may earn credits towards a Business certificate.
