The Shaker Valley School operates on the grounds of the Lebanon Correctional Institution (LeCI), located in Lebanon, Ohio. LeCI houses an average of 2,700 minimum and close security inmates. The Shaker Valley School is proud to commit to the following educational programs:
The LeCI Shaker Valley School education programs include both classroom and practical activities that also involve several other LeCI institutional program areas. A few of the favorite educational activities include the Hope Literacy program and Education Olympics. The LeCI Hope Literacy program involves outside volunteers from the surrounding community coming into the school to assist. The LeCI Education Olympics involves the entire prison population. Each year the competition grows as tickets are sold and inmate funded awards are distributed to the contest winners. Activities such as a spelling contest, debate, jeopardy game, art work and essay contest are always a lot of fun for the entire institution.
During the Shared Service Area Four (SSA 4) Recognition of Retirees, Carole Little, LeCI Guidance Counselor was honored for her dedication to the Ohio Central School System. The SSA 4 retreat involves staff working together to set goals, train, and review information that affects staff and students at the Dayton/Montgomery facility, the Lebanon Correctional Institution & the Warren Correctional Institution.
