Hilltop School is located on the grounds of the Hocking Correctional Facility (HCF) in Nelsonville, Ohio, which has an average population of 480 minimum and medium security inmates. HCF Hilltop School is proud to commit to the following educational programs.
Hilltop school offers academic and career-tech classes to an older inmate population. The Apprenticeship programs also offer training in Welding, HVAC, Maintenance Repair, and Electronics. The library is quite busy on a daily basis, since most of the residents prefer reading because it is a sedentary activity. In addition, Hilltop School provides education services to the juveniles from the Madison Correctional Institution, who are housed in segregation at the Hocking Correctional Facility.
Hilltop School is pleased to highlight Teacher Appreciation Day at the Hocking Correctional Facility. Each year the Director of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (DRC) and the Superintendent of the Ohio Central School System honor National Teacher Day with a Letter of Appreciation to thank the education staff for their professionalism and dedication to inspire change, and fosters hope in the lives of the students. HCF embraces the day and takes the time to get together and celebrate as a correctional education team.
