In 2009, the Ohio
Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (DRC) partnered with
the American Red Cross to sponsor the inaugural Ohio Corrections
Blood Drive Challenge (CBDC).
This challenge was designed to support the Red Cross in
blood collection during its “trauma season” lasting from July 1
through September 30th, when the need for blood is
most critical. This
effort resulted in the collection of over 1,100 units from over
700 donors in DRC prisons and parole offices statewide.
We are continuing our
partnership this year and hope to encourage the larger Ohio
corrections community to join in this challenge.
Our theme for 2010 is
“Summertime: sit back, relax, & help save a few lives!”
The
All Ohio corrections
entities are encouraged to get involved by contacting
Darryl Graves, CBDC team leader, at 740-653-4324 ext. 2700 or
darryl.graves@odrc.state.oh.us as soon as possible to join
this important effort.
I am
pleased that we have been asked to continue our leadership
role in this important endeavor. I challenge Ohio's
corrections community to join us in responding to the needs
of our fellow Ohioans.
Sincerely,

The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction protects and supports Ohioans by ensuring that adult felony offenders are effectively supervised in environments that are safe, humane, and appropriately secure. In partnership with communities, we will promote citizen safety and victim reparation. Through rehabilitative and restorative programming, we seek to instill in offenders an improved sense of responsibility and the capacity to become law-abiding members of society.
